Planning permission has been granted for the new flood defences along the Allotments and Meadrow which will protect Godalming & Farncombe residents from a repeat of the terrible floods of Christmas 2013.
Jeremy Hunt MP and local Conservative Councillors have been campaigning for better flood defences since then and now that planning permission and funding have been secured work can begin.
Cllr. Nick Williams said: "The next step is to meet with the Environment Agency in July to discuss dates for the work. Real thanks should go to all the local residents who have been part of the flood group and have helped make the case for Godalming."
